No.37 Luanqing Hutong, Beijing

The middle part of the original grey brick gable walls on both sides of the courtyard was filled with a bamboo-steel reconstituted bamboo fence, forming a "gourd-shaped courtyard" layout with a large and a small courtyard in the small quadrangle. In the middle is a transparent vertical bamboo lattice sliding door. After passing through a narrow and curved doorway, one enters an open circular courtyard. The grey tile roof and the warm-colored reconstituted bamboo curved walls surrounding it create a peaceful space. The roof of the two middle bays of the south room is connected with bamboo steel of the original structural size, and the rafters are composed of cross-shaped bamboo steel reconstituted bamboo components. Under the premise of preserving the urban texture, the quadrangle courtyard combined with reconstituted bamboo materials has been implanted with new functions and has been rejuvenated for a second life.
