Jueyao Beautiful Courtyard - Road Gallery in Fushan Township, Huangyan District, Taizhou City
The ancient village of Jueyao on the Huangyong Ancient Road in Taizhou City has a long history, and its village history can be traced back to the Northern Song Dynasty. Adjacent to Yongjia County, it is the first village when entering Taizhou from Wenzhou. This project is located on the idle collective land in the southeast corner of the village, covering an area of approximately 400 square meters.
After several investigations, the design team decided to seize the opportunity of rural revitalization and use the limited funds to serve a larger number of people. The original task of designing several private courtyard houses was changed to revitalize this abandoned collective land: a new shared beautiful courtyard that can provide shelter from wind and rain was added to enrich the public activity space for villagers. The road gallery is what people called the ancient post stations in the past. Bamboo Steel® restructured bamboo was selected as the building structural material for the road gallery in the ancient village.
The geographical environment of this project has high humidity. If ordinary wood or ordinary bamboo is chosen, their anti-corrosion and anti-moth performance is poor, and the later maintenance will increase the burden on the managers. Our team has many years of rich experience in the application of prefabricated bamboo structures. Considering that the local construction level is not high and it is difficult to achieve the architectural design effect through on-site processing, we adopted a prefabricated processing system for the road gallery structure in the factory and installed it on-site. This not only shortens the construction period but also reduces the impact on the lives of the surrounding villagers, and the overall project can be well presented. The design team believes that Bamboo Steel® is close to the desired wooden sense of intimacy in terms of both vision and touch, and it is easy to maintain and durable, which is a successful practice of "replacing wood with bamboo".
