Amidst
the green mountains and clear waters of Pingjiang County, Hunan Province, a
dialogue between art and the countryside is unfolding. The "White Night
Before the Mountain Land Art Exhibition" is a continuous plan, which
represents an exploration, an innovation, and an attempt to perfectly blend
tradition and modernity. The 2024 Art Residency Program of White Night Before
the Mountain is jointly completed by the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the
Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The
work "Living in Symbiosis with Nature · Feeling the Pulse of
Pingjiang" intervenes in the countryside in a gentle and soft way,
achieving the collection of wind information and a connection with local
materials. With a deep understanding of rural aesthetics, the creative journey
has begun. Its goal is to combine the traditional craftsmanship of intangible
cultural heritage with the most advanced artificial intelligence technology to
create artworks that possess both traditional charm and a modern feel.
In
terms of material selection, Bamboo Steel® is used as the main structural
material. At the same time, combined with the traditional pasting process,
oiled paper cloth is used as the surface material, presenting an ecological and
natural sensory experience. These art installations have found their place in
the rural natural environment. They converse with the surrounding fields,
mountains, sky, and wind, becoming a part of the rural culture and injecting
new vitality into rural revitalization.
